The BMW Serie 2 Gran Coupé is already a reality, and these are its main rivals
The BMW Serie 2 Gran Coupé has just hit the market with great force, but there are already two rivals ready to compete with it.

BMW has made another move with the newly unveiled Serie 2 Gran Coupé, a model that not only introduces a new option within the range, but also previews the future Serie 2. However, the German firm has decided to target a niche already occupied by other brands, although it is true that few have dared to do so. With this premise, BMW has managed to spark a new battle within the automotive sector, which could encourage other brands to enter the four-door coupé saloon segment.
The Serie 2 Gran Coupé inherits the concept of its bigger sibling, the Serie 8 Gran Coupé, although the clear influence of the Serie 1 is also noticeable. Thanks to its more streamlined bodywork, the German firm has managed to offer a subtler and more elegant design but, will this be enough to stand up to its main rivals? Let’s find out.
Mercedes-Benz CLA
Mercedes-Benz can be considered the pioneer of this four-door coupé concept. Back in 2004, the star brand launched the CLS, a model that captivated everyone with its elegant and sporty design. Its impact was such that it not only went through two more generations, but also gave rise to the CLA.

The German house wanted to apply this same idea to a smaller and more affordable vehicle, and the formula quickly delivered good results. Today, the second generation of the CLA is in production, a model that has taken everything good from the A-Class and applied it alongside that very distinctive design.
Until not long ago, the Mercedes-Benz CLA reigned supreme and without major concerns, since there was no direct rival to it. However, BMW has set out to challenge it with its new Serie 2 Gran Coupé, a model that will make a lot of noise and will bring the CLA into the ring.
Audi A3 Sedan
We have taken this last rival with a pinch of salt, since it could also compete more directly with the Mercedes A-Class Sedan. But Audi has wanted to make its A3 even more versatile with this Sedan variant, which drops the coupé styling but in return offers more usable interior space and a very wide range of engines.

Although we do not know whether BMW has plans to bring an M2 Gran Coupé to market, it could become a very interesting opponent for the Audi RS3 Sedan. However, the battle will not be truly fair until the renewal of the compact from the four rings, since BMW currently has the upper hand in technology, for example.
