The BMW X2 could be ready for the Paris Motor Show

Throughout several months of this year 2016, we have been seeing some prototypes of the BMW X2, which in various disguises has been appearing on test tracks and even on roads in several countries. This car is scheduled to enter the production line and be launched from next year onwards, so a more complete concept car is taking shape, ready to be seen at the Paris Motor Show.

This will take place in September, so at BMW they would be finalising the details to be ready and have this model prepared to be one of the main highlights at this important event, where brands present the cars that will be trends over the coming year.

A model built with the best of others

This will be the sixth SUV model to form part of the brand’s range. To shape it, the UKL platform has been used, which has also been used on the X1 and the MINI Countryman. The engine expected for this off-roader is the 2-litre turbocharged petrol unit in the xDrive20i version, while in diesel form there could be three models: the xDrive18d, xDrive20d and xDrive25d, with a 2.0-litre engine, also in turbo form.

The BMW X2 will be an evolution of the already well-known BMW X1 Another version that could be in preparation would be a direct rival to the Mercedes AMG GLA 45 and the Audi RS Q3, with a power level that would be around 300 CV. As regards design, the BMW X2 will be based on the X1. Its look will be evolved, featuring a more raked windscreen and a low roofline.

It is expected to have a spacious interior that allows passengers to be really comfortable and to enjoy a pleasant feeling during the journey, while also keeping a good boot for luggage. As for the interior equipment, it is expected to be very similar to the X1 and to maintain the same level of technology. We suppose there will be some surprises kept for the presentation day, so we just have to wait a little longer to see it properly. What do you think of this new SUV from BMW?
