The Bugatti Chiron, in full action at the Goodwood Festival

The Goodwood Festival of Speed 2016 has left us a number of impressive images from the days when the best supercars and classic cars from many of the leading brands gathered in the English countryside. The Goodwood track hosted the runs of some of the most spectacular cars of the moment, and among them stands out the impressive Bugatti Chiron.

The car was driven by Andy Wallace, a Bugatti driver since 2011 and one of the most legendary who has raced several cars around the Le Mans circuit. Wallace sat behind the wheel knowing that this would possibly be the most anticipated moment, since ever since the rumours about the development of the Chiron began, a couple of years ago, we were all eager to see this spectacular car in action on the track.

It is a great honour for me to drive this exceptional vehicle at such a fantastic event, especially because this will be its debut in my home country. I am sure this will be a highlight of the festival. – Andy Wallace (free translation)

This is how the British driver felt before sitting behind the wheel of one of the most impressive supercars of recent years. The almost 1,500 CV of power and the maximum torque of 1,600 Nm can be felt in this video, recorded when Wallace set off to cover the 1.87 kilometres of the Goodwood circuit to feel all the excitement one should feel on board this marvellous vehicle.

The British driver was not the only one who wanted to experience that thrill. Another person who got to do so was Lord March himself, the creator of the Goodwood Festival of Speed and host of the whole event. He was the first non-professional driver to have the honour and the luck of driving this outstanding machine on a competition track. And the statements he made leave no room for doubt: it is an intense and captivating experience.

In terms of the motoring experience in general, it is among the very best. It has incredible power, yet it handles in a very fluid way. It was a complete drive in every sense. – Lord March (free translation)

For the moment, it will be difficult for us to drive this model, but we have a video capturing the moment of the test at Goodwood, so, something is better than nothing, we can almost see in first person what that moment was like. Shall we watch it?
