The Citroën C3 Aircross is already a hit before it even hits the road, with 9,000 orders placed

The new Citroën C3 Aircross is arriving with every intention of becoming a major hit, and it has plenty going for it: 9,000 units have already been ordered before it even arrives.

Success for the French brand’s compact models is the order of the day. Not long ago we reported that 200,000 units of the new C3 had already been sold in less than a year, and it seems its SUV variant is set to follow the same path.

The C3 Aircross positions itself as an alternative to the conventional C3. It features a more rustic look and seems to have been a hit in today’s market. Many companies are launching urban SUVs, and the double-chevron brand has known very well how to position itself in this segment.

The new French SUV arrived relatively recently, adopting the mechanical features of its urban sibling, with which it shares a number of elements. Citroën reasoned that the C3 Aircross would need more power to get going, and has added some very interesting options to the engine line-up.

The engine list includes a petrol unit producing 130 CV -the highest in the range- and a BlueHDI delivering 120 CV. The remaining engines offer 82, 100 and 110 CV, with the first and last being petrol and the middle one diesel. The 110 CV Puretech engine is available with either a manual or an automatic gearbox. It will probably also be possible to fit the automatic gearbox to the two more powerful engines in the future.

Inside, it doesn’t differ much from the regular C3; they share many elements and the similarities are more than evident. Inside the cabin we find the latest technology and a variety of very interesting options and extras. As is well known, the French brand is known for allowing a great deal of freedom in customising the look of your car. The C3 Aircross was not going to be any different.

The trim levels on the new Citroën SUV carry the same names as on the C3. We can choose between Live, Feel and Shine. Depending on our choice, we get a more or less complete standard equipment list. The Shine trim includes sat nav, a rear-view camera, electric rear windows, and more. Prices for the C3 Aircross start at 14,000 euros -for the Live trim- up to 19,400 euros for the Shine trim.

We have before us a new SUV that is keen to stay and make its way into our homes. Of the 9,000 orders placed for the new C3 Aircross, 1,000 come from Spain. Without a doubt it has the potential to become another great hit for the French brand thanks to its versatility and its striking, daring design.
