The Fiat 500 joins the Galactic Empire of Star Wars

With everyone eagerly awaiting the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the designers at Garage Italia have developed a version of the Fiat 500 that turns it into one of the Imperial soldiers of the galactic saga

On December 18 next, Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens worldwide, so every fan of the galactic saga is counting down to that date. Many people already have their tickets ready, but other fans go a step further. For example, designer Lapo Elkann, of the company Garage Italia, has turned an electrically powered Fiat 500 into an Imperial Galactic Empire Stormtrooper.

It has been named Stormtrooper 500E and wears a body inspired by the armour of the First Order soldiers, the dark rivals of the protagonists of the seventh Star Wars instalment. It is not just the white colour and some details on the bodywork: the car is fully recognisable as one of the soldiers’ helmets, to the point that it even reproduces their design in the shape of the mouth and eyes.

Any true fan of the saga will be delighted with this version of the small city car, since it features not only the external look of an Imperial helmet but also numerous details in the cabin that place it in the setting of the films.

The interior has upholstery following the black and white colour scheme of the armour, together with Alcantara, while also following the proposed theme and the model’s traditional décor. On the dashboard is the saga’s logo, and the headrests have been hand-embroidered with the symbol representing the First Order.

According to Garage Italia at the Los Angeles Auto Show 2015, this car keeps all the tradition of the Italian model together with the technology and advances expected of a vehicle far ahead of its time. In other words, like a Stormtrooper’s armour. What I hope, at least, is that it is more reliable at parking than one of those soldiers shooting…
