The FIAT Panda is a success, but its production comes to a standstill
FIAT is going to halt production of the Panda for several days next month, which may lead to delays in the delivery of vehicles already purchased

The FIAT Panda has been racking up successes since it returned to the market. The Italian brand placed high expectations on sales of this model and at the beginning of 2024 announced that it would increase production of the model by 20% to meet the orders piling up at dealerships. In fact, the Panda has become the best-selling car in Italy and the best-selling model in its segment across Europe.
The chief executive of Fiat, Olivier Francois, announced that production of the FIAT Panda would continue until at least 2027, but it seems that in the end it will not all be as positive as the brand’s executive had hoped.

Stellantis has decided to put the brakes on production of several of its models, and the Panda is one of those affected. Some time ago, production was halted at the Mirafiori plant, where the FIAT 500e and the Maserati GranTurismo were built. It is true that the first of these models has suffered problems and a fairly significant drop in sales.
FIAT Panda sales have reached 63,500 units, which means that sales of the model have risen by 21% compared with last year, which does not justify the production stoppage for this model. However, it is not only about Panda figures: Stellantis is looking at the group’s overall data, and these indicate that it is necessary to halt production of several of its brands’ models.
The stoppages will not be continuous; they are pauses of several days spread over the coming month, aimed at reducing the stock built up for several models. We do not yet know how this will affect orders already placed and waiting to be delivered, but we can expect that there could be delays and many buyers will have to wait to receive their FIAT Panda.
