Fiat Topolino Electric Cars Urban
The FIAT Topolino can now be driven on the streets of American cities
The Topolino is now free to be driven on some roads in the United States, and its use is no longer restricted to private premises.
Following its launch on the American market last July, FIAT has managed to make its quirky electric quadricycle legally drivable on the public roads of this North American country.
Initially, this model could only be used on private property in this market due to its limited top speed, but now the 2027 model reaches 40 km/h, which allows it to qualify as a “Low-Speed Vehicle” (LSV) under US federal regulations.

At its debut last July, the Topolino did not exceed 31 km/h (19 mph). This figure was clearly below the threshold required to obtain LSV homologation. Topolino buyers in the United States could therefore not drive it on public roads. The Italian manufacturer then announced, however, its intention to offer conversion kits that would allow this electric quadricycle to comply with the law by the end of summer 2026.
A promise is a promise
Keeping its word, and thanks to various technical improvements, the 2027 Topolino can now be driven on public roads where the maximum permitted speed does not exceed 56 km/h (35 mph), provided that the corresponding state and local regulations allow it. In addition, owners of 2026 units will receive the necessary update free of charge to adapt their vehicles to the new requirements.
According to the manufacturer, the Topolino thus opens an exciting new chapter for the brand in the region, bringing the Italian “dolce vita” lifestyle to the growing micromobility segment.

The 2027 range expands the possibilities with new colours, an open-top body and the aforementioned ability to drive legally at low speed, giving users greater freedom to customise how the vehicle is used.
FIAT offers three versions of the 2027 model: the standard Topolino, the Dolce Vita and the new Open Air. This latest version combines the retractable fabric roof of the Dolce Vita with the doors of the conventional model. All three variants start from the same price of $13,995 (excluding transport costs) and feature a new full-colour digital instrument cluster. The Topolino claims a range of 74 km (46 miles) and is powered by a 6 kW electric motor.
