The first 250 units of the Seat León Cupra have arrived in China
The first shipment of Seat vehicles has arrived in China, a total of 250 Seat León. In a few days the second vessel will arrive with a new consignment of Seat Ibiza vehicles.
China is a market in which most brands are devoting significant efforts to expanding their share of the global market, and Seat has embraced this same goal, having sent its first shipment of cars to the Asian country in mid-January, which have already arrived at the port of Tianjin, in northern China.
The first shipment of vehicles and material comprises 250 units of the Seat León Cupra, the spearhead of the model sales through a representation network that is already operating in that distant country. In a few days, the arrival of a second vessel from Spain will complete the second shipment of vehicles, which will open a weekly maritime route between Spain and China.
The Spanish brand’s strategy is to analyse the reactions of Chinese consumers through the sale of these models, currently manufactured in Martorell, to which the Ibiza will soon be added. If expectations match the sales results achieved, the brand does not rule out beginning local production in China.
On the other hand, Seat is looking for new markets in other emerging countries. According to the plans outlined by its executives, they are aiming to establish contacts with the Russian market, in Moscow and St. Petersburg with 12 dealerships, in addition to the Brazilian and Mexican markets, where they managed to place more than 18,000 units in 2011.
