Ford Mustang Mach-E Electric Cars ECO SUV
The Ford Mustang Mach-E debuts as a police car in the United States
A city in Michigan has opted to include two units of the Ford Mustang Mach-E in its police fleet, although they will have to be fitted out by another company

Something seems to be changing in the mindset of police forces in the United States. The police car fleets of several cities in the country are welcoming electrified models and gradually improving their efficiency. Law enforcement agencies are beginning to trust electric cars, especially when they have the power and presence needed to do their job. The Ford Mustang Mach-E, the electric version of the popular model, is thus joining the police fleet of a city in Michigan.
The police of Ann Arbor, a city of just over 110,000 inhabitants, has just acquired two units of the Ford Mustang Mach-E to include in the local police fleet. This decision has cost around 94,000 dollars, although they expect the fuel savings to make a significant difference to the municipal coffers.

The city council has opted for the version with a 75 kW battery, which offers a range of 337 kilometres, compared with the version equipped with the 98 kW battery, which allows the car to run for 480 kilometres. The installation of the charging points adds 5,000 euros to the cost of these vehicles, but the municipal government assures that the cost will be offset by the lower cost of electricity compared with traditional fuels.
The service life of each of these cars is calculated at six years or 130,000 kilometres, whichever comes first. With this move, the Ann Arbor police department wants to promote the use of electric vehicles and is working on installing 100 electric car chargers by 2021. The inclusion of these two electric models in the police fleet will help promote electric cars.
An important note in this case: Ford does not have a police version of the Mustang Mach-E in its catalogue, so to convert the car into a police vehicle the city council will have to turn to another company to fit the car out with all the equipment it needs to carry out its policing duties.
For now, we do not have images of this powerful and striking car dressed as a police vehicle, only a rendering created by Aksyonov Nikita, a designer who has imagined something that seemed unlikely but has become a reality.
