The Ford Transit Custom and Tourneo Custom receive 5 stars from Euro NCAP

Ford has received a five-star rating in Euro NCAP’s crash and safety tests, in addition to earning seven advanced awards from the safety body, thanks to the Lane Keeping Alert and SYNC with Emergency Assistance.

Good news for Ford in the Euro NCAP tests: the new Ford Transit Custom has become the first vehicle in its segment to achieve the maximum five-star rating, a score that also applies to the new Tourneo Custom.

The Ford Transit has achieved an overall score of 77% after being subjected to the new crash tests for heavy vehicles, and has obtained the best scores in its segment for child protection (90%), adult protection (84%) and safety technologies (71%).

Ford also received the first Euro NCAP Advanced award for technology available in a vehicle of this type. The Lane Keeping Alert, which makes the steering wheel vibrate and activates an alert on the control screen to warn the driver, is the seventh advanced award obtained by Ford.

The brand has also achieved another Advanced award for SYNC with Emergency Assistance, which, thanks to the mobile communications network and GPS, allows the Transit Custom to help passengers call the local emergency service operator by phone in 26 languages spoken across 40 European regions.

The Ford Transit Custom had a brilliant 2012, as it was also selected as Van of the Year 2013, an award presented to it a couple of months ago, beating the Dacia Dokker and the Mercedes-Benz Citan in the vote.
