The Guadarrama tunnel closed today for a few minutes

On our usual weekly trip to Madrid to collect the test vehicles, we have come across many curiosities and situations on the road: behaviour on the hard shoulders of the motorway, mobile speed cameras or drivers without lights in adverse weather conditions.
Today the star of the show was the Guadarrama tunnel, since, driving in the direction of Galicia without any warning, neither from the Guardia Civil nor, at first, from the information boards, a few metres before the tunnel entrance one of the last boards warned us that the access traffic lights were red, and therefore the tunnel was closed to traffic.
A few metres further on, another sign warned that in just 450 metres we had to stop, and finally the last of the boards made us stop for good. All without any kind of information or temporary diversion even though it was possible to open the central lane. The most curious thing is that during the minutes we were stopped there was no presence of any State Security Force.

While we were wondering about the causes of the temporary closure of the tunnel, the traffic lights turned green and traffic resumed. Apparently the reason for the closure was the breakdown of two lorries. But what is striking is that they close the tunnel in this way without temporarily opening the central lane, which, among other functions, is used for these situations.
