The Hyundai 45 EV Concept is presented in Frankfurt as a design car

Hyundai presents this concept model, which pays tribute to the Hyundai Pony, the first design car of the Korean brand, produced from 1975 to 1990

Hyundai unveiled at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show a prototype that pays tribute to the Hyundai Pony, the first model the brand ever built in-house. This model was produced between 1975 and 1990, but the concept model the brand has just unveiled has an important feature: it is a 100% electric model.

That earlier model was based on the aircraft of the 1920s, and that imagery is also meant to come through in this new concept. The Hyundai 45 EV Concept takes its name from the 45º angles that can be seen both at the rear and at the front, a diamond shape that will be present in the brand’s other models from now on and is called Sensous Sportiness.

Although the model has been presented, Hyundai has not released data on the battery capacity and the motors that will power the car. What we do know is that the batteries are located in the floor of the car, which helps free up interior space.

On the outside we find a futuristic and very attractive design, with a lighting layout integrated into the bodywork. In addition, behind the front wheels a set of LED lights has been installed that shows the battery status. And that is not all, since the wing mirrors have been replaced by cameras that transmit images to the infotainment system.

Minimalist and technological interior

The onboard technology of this model enables autonomous driving thanks to driver assistance systems. The cabin is designed to be quite minimalist, with two independent front seats that can swivel to face the rear seats, which sit on a full bench.

Fabric, wood and leather are the materials present in the interior cabin. The information and entertainment system is housed in a large multimedia screen that stretches across the dashboard and also integrates the instrument cluster.

This Hyundai 45 EV Concept is a design model, created to showcase everything the brand can offer, but it will not reach the assembly line in this form. That said, part of its design and technology will feature in future Hyundai models, so it would not be surprising if we soon see one or more cars that remind us of this one.
