The Hyundai Elantra 2021 was supposed to be presented at a lavish party where the new generation of this model was to be revealed. But since we are living through these special circumstances, the presentation took place via streaming video, so no one was left without seeing what the new model looks like.

The changes are quite noticeable and bring us a different, more stylised image and a front end with significant modifications. The grille has a completely new design, and the headlights use LED technology to make the most of its advantages. At the rear, the light signature has also been modified thanks to new light clusters with an original H-shaped design.

The cascading-style grille, which becomes an elegant visual element, is joined by LED headlights that follow the same line and wrap around to the indicators, creating a very attractive look that conveys the more dynamic spirit of this new version of the Elantra. In addition, there are options for 15-, 16- and 17-inch alloy wheels to give the whole car a bolder appearance.

The seventh generation of the Hyundai Elantra is built on a new platform, which is 5.5 centimetres longer and has a wheelbase increased by 2 centimetres. It is also slightly wider, by 2.5 centimetres, and a little lower.

Technology-focused interior

Inside this new Hyundai Elantra we find two 10.25-inch screens installed under a single glass panel. It also debuts Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, along with the option of a digital key. Voice recognition will also be available, with “Speech-to-Meaning” and “Deep Meaning Understanding” (Language – Meaning and Deep Understanding of Meaning) for controlling systems such as the climate control.

For the interior design, the Korean brand has used a design language geared towards the driver. Everything is oriented towards the driver, with a low driving position and sufficient storage spaces for comfortable and safe driving. Physical controls have also been removed, so the interior feels quite open and uncluttered.

In terms of safety, the Hyundai Elantra 2021 is equipped with SmartSense technology, made up of driver assistance systems that enhance safety and make driving more pleasant, so we have less to worry about when changing lanes, monitoring driver attention and other factors.

Engines of the new Elantra

There will be four versions of this new Hyundai Elantra. The first three, SE, SEL and Limited, will feature a four-cylinder 2.0-litre engine producing 147 CV and a maximum torque of 179 Nm. The fourth version will be a hybrid with a 1.6-litre combustion engine paired with an 32 kW electric motor, together delivering 139 CV and a maximum torque of 264 Nm.

The electric motor will be powered by a 1.32 kWh battery and uses a six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Production will begin in mid-2020, and the car will reach international markets in early 2021.
