The Hyundai i30 N arrives to thrill the most enthusiastic audience
The South Korean sports compact offers a four-cylinder engine producing 275 CV of power. It features an anti-slip differential and a Rev-Matching system.
The i30 N is the first high-performance vehicle from Hyundai Motor under its N line. As we predicted a few days ago, it will feature an engine producing 275 CV of power, or 280 PS. Developed at Namyang, at Hyundai Motor’s global R&D centre in Korea, and refined at the Nürburgring, one of the most demanding circuits in the world and home to Hyundai’s test centre, it will reach the European market at the end of 2017.

Thanks to its 2.0 T-GDI turbocharged four-cylinder engine delivering 275 CV of power and 353 Nm of torque, the i30 N becomes one of the most performance-oriented sports compacts on the market. The direct rivals of the South Korean model are none other than the Honda Civic Type R, Ford Focus RS, Renault Megane RS, Volkswagen Golf R and Seat Leon Cupra.
It features an anti-slip differential and a Rev Matching function

The Hyundai i30 N offers several features that make it a high-performance model. These include the electronic limited-slip differential, the electronically controlled suspension, the Rev Matching system (a function similar to that found in the Nissan 370Z, which automatically blips the throttle during downshifts, simulating the well-known “heel-and-toe” manoeuvre) and the Launch Control. The South Korean compact also features an overboost function that increases engine torque by 8% and acceleration by 6-7% at specific moments.
A sound that delivers

The sound of the Hyundai i30 N has also been crafted with great care and attention. Proof of this is that the car features a twin silencer combined with a variable exhaust valve system.
The car’s design was handled by Hyundai Motorsport

The design of the South Korean compact is sure to turn heads, as it was created by the motorsport division of the Asian brand, Hyundai Motorsport. The i30 N features aggressive front and rear bumpers with large air intakes, as well as a red line on the front splitter that gives it the sporty character that every car of this kind should have. The triangular-shaped rear spoiler, the 18- and 19-inch alloy wheels, the sports seats and the Performance Blue exterior colour, inspired by Hyundai Motorsport, complete the list of styling elements that shape the new Hyundai i30 N’s look.
“The Hyundai i30 has been developed with the sole purpose of providing our customers with maximum driving enjoyment through an accessible high-performance package,” says Albert Biermann, Executive Vice President of Vehicle Testing and High-Performance Development at Hyundai Motor Company. “With our N high-performance models we will enhance the appeal of our brand with emotional products that satisfy the needs of people who enjoy having a smile on their face while driving winding roads and listening to the sound of the engine. That is why we measure high performance in BPM, beats per minute of the heart, rather than only in RPM, revolutions per minute.”
