The Hyundai Staria is officially unveiled and announces new details, including its engine line-up
The new Hyundai Staria has now been officially presented, and we can now get to know it a little better: a model that will arrive in the second quarter of 2021

In mid-month, Hyundai pulled the Staria out of the shadows. Its futuristic MPV has finally made its official world debut and, while we were at it, they gave us more concrete details on how the range will be made up and what we will find under its bonnet. We also won’t have to wait long to see it on the roads, as the company has confirmed that it will reach certain markets from the second half of this same year.
The Hyundai Staria presents itself as a large MPV. It announces a total length of 5,253 mm, together with a wheelbase of 3,273 mm and a width of 1,997 mm, as well as a height of 1,990 mm, which will undoubtedly allow its occupants to get in and out with complete comfort. Its dimensions go hand in hand with its futuristic styling, as we have seen previously, especially at the front, with horizontal DRL and position lights together with the two headlights set at the extremes in the lower part.

Along the sides of the Staria, we can see how the waistline extends the full length of the body in a low position, allowing for side windows of greater dimensions, which improve visibility and brightness inside. This is also carried over to the rear, where the large rear window stands out, framed by the elongated vertical rear lights, while the bumper sits in a low position to make loading and unloading the boot easier and more comfortable.
The entire bodywork can be painted in one of eight available colours, and there is no plastic trim, reinforcing an image of higher quality. Note that it will be built in two versions: Staria and Staria Premium. The latter uses distinctive elements in tinted brass chrome, applied to the Hyundai logos, the front grille, the headlight surrounds, both bumpers, the wheels, the mirror housings and the door handles.

Opening its doors, we find a spacious interior typical of MPVs, offering a configuration of 2 to 11 seats, where simplicity and practicality will be the dominant features. The driving position is meant to keep that futuristic feel and, incidentally, you will find a screen of up to 10.25 inches for the infotainment system, as well as buttons Shift by Wire for the electronic gear selector on automatic versions. On top of all this, there is generous space for all occupants and for the cargo area, which is complemented by numerous storage compartments.
As for safety systems, as expected, the Hyundai Staria will feature the latest market innovations, including six airbags, three-point seat belts and head restraints for all seats, a forward collision avoidance assist, or the wireless seat belt reminder module. There are other very interesting ones, such as the Safe Exit Assist, which prevents the rear sliding door from opening if it detects an approaching vehicle, or the Rear Occupant Alert, which uses a radar sensor to detect and warn the driver if an occupant has been left inside after getting out.

Mechanically, Hyundai has so far announced that the Staria will be powered by a 2,200 cc VGT turbodiesel engine developing 177 CV together with 431 Nm of torque, which can be paired with either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Further engines will join the range later on and, although they have not been detailed, petrol, hybrid and even an electric variant are expected.
