The Hyundai Veloster: another one for Paris

News about this coupé from the Korean brand has been rather scarce in recent months, perhaps as a prelude to the announcement that came to light in the last few hours. Although slowly, Hyundai has finally decided to launch its compact coupé called Veloster. It will be presented in October at the Paris motor show and will go on sale in certain countries early next year.
One of the most striking features of the Veloster is that it will have three doors, but not in the way we know them: there will be two doors on one side (the right side) and a single door on the left side. All of this is to make access easier for passengers travelling in the back. When the concept was presented in 2007, it had only two doors.

So far, it is known that the Veloster will come equipped with the 1.6 Theta two-litre, four-cylinder inline engine, with front-wheel drive. Power is reportedly around 140 CV, and the entry-level model will feature a dual-clutch gearbox. A future variant of the same engine is also planned, with 200 CV and the addition of a turbo, arriving on a date yet to be determined after its presentation in Paris.
The Veloster was created at the design centre that Hyundai owns in Namyang, Korea, and is the third in a series of three coupés the brand developed up to 2007. The concept also featured a panoramic roof and a very classic rear finish, a classic 2+2 coupé. The name Veloster came from the combination of the two words roadster and velocity.
