The ID. Buzz from Volkswagen finally arrives in the North American market
The ID. Buzz will reach the North American market this year, but as a model corresponding to the 2025 model year.
The German manufacturer has just announced the upcoming availability of its electric van from the ID. family in the North American market. As expected, the ID. Buzz will be available in this market only in the variant with the longer wheelbase and will feature a 91 kWh battery pack. Its launch in this market is scheduled for the third quarter of this same year.
Volkswagen will offer three versions of the ID. Buzz in North America: Pro S, Pro S Plus and the launch edition 1st Edition. Although all three versions will feature the 91 kWh battery pack, the company has not yet provided data on the expected range for each case. It will also be possible to choose between two drivetrain options. The first has a single motor on the rear axle capable of delivering up to 210 kW of power. The second, with dual motors and 4Motion all-wheel drive, will increase the delivered power up to 250 kW. It is important to note, however, that neither configuration is available in all three versions. For example, the entry-level Pro S version is not available with all-wheel drive.

Another important difference between the three available versions is the seat configuration, which can be seven seats with a bench in the rear row or six individual seats. Thus, the entry-level Pro S version, in addition to being available only with a single rear-axle motor as already mentioned, will also come as standard with a seven-seat configuration. The rear-wheel-drive Pro S Plus version will likewise come as standard with seven seats. However, in this case it will be possible to opt for a six-seat configuration if preferred. The all-wheel-drive Pro S Plus version, on the other hand, will come with six seats as standard.
Finally, the 1st Edition launch version will come with seven seats as standard in the rear-wheel-drive configuration, while the all-wheel-drive configuration will opt for six seats as standard. In other words, the seven-seat layout is limited to the rear-wheel-drive versions.

There are many differences between the European and North American ID. Buzz
The ID. Buzz has been available in Europe since 2022, but in that market it has the standard wheelbase and room for a maximum of five passengers instead of seven. The battery pack of the rear-wheel-drive European versions is also smaller, at 82 kWh. On the other hand, in Europe the version with dual electric motors and all-wheel drive was recently presented, and in this market it is designated GTX.

The German manufacturer delivered a total of 7,000 units of the ID. Buzz during the first quarter of 2024. That figure is expected to increase substantially in the coming quarters as a result of the sale of this electric van in the North American market as well.
