The INEOS Grenadier is put to the test in the snow
After several months and many tests, the INEOS Grenadier heads to the mountains to test its off-road capabilities, which are its main selling point.

When an off-roader is being tuned before going on sale, it first has to go through a wide variety of tests. The prototypes are subjected to demanding tests that allow engineers to observe their behaviour and act to adjust the different elements that will turn it into an exceptional vehicle. And in the case of INEOS Grenadier, it has already moved on to a second phase of mountain testing.
The tests carried out in the mountains of Schöckl, a location near the headquarters of Magna Steyr, the company’s engineering partner, have confirmed the worth of the off-roader prototypes. The rugged tracks on which the 130 prototypes of the model have been driven have served as a demanding test of the off-road characteristics of a vehicle that aims to become a benchmark for extreme driving.

Tests during 2020
The INEOS Grenadier was tested throughout 2020 once restrictions were eased, but now is when the toughest and most relevant tests for the units under development will begin. The brand’s intention is for these prototypes to cover more than 1.8 million kilometres on several of the most demanding tracks on the planet. With all the data obtained, work will be carried out to fine-tune the vehicle and take it into production.

INEOS GRENADIER IN THE SNOW
The model’s entry onto the final assembly line will take place in 2022. Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s impressions after getting behind the wheel of the INEOS Grenadier during tests on the hostile rocky terrain of the Schöckl mountain are very positive. The executive wants to move forward more quickly from now on and get the off-roader ready for a new stage of development.
A pure off-roader
The INEOS Grenadier is an off-roader that shuns unnecessary embellishments and focuses on delivering optimal results in the world of off-roading. The major brands have abandoned this type of vehicle, and very few on the market can offer everything this model does.
It has a powerful, commanding look with a high ground clearance, large wheels and several features that allow a roof rack, a rear transport box and auxiliary work lights to be added. It has a payload capacity of up to 1,000 kg and a towing capacity of 3,500 kg. It also has a cabin designed for the comfort of its occupants, something that need not be at odds with efficiency.
The engine comes from BMW and delivers all the power needed to meet the goals of this model. We are awaiting the start of production, delayed by the pandemic, in order to learn its final price and specifications.
