The Infiniti Q60 Project Black S will soon arrive, a hybrid model that wants to make us dream

The Infiniti Q60 Project Black S is a prototype we saw last year, but the brand tells us it will get a new chance with another version

Last year we had the chance to see the prototype of the Infiniti Q60 Project Black S, an exceptional concept-car that was based on the Infiniti Q60 Red Sport 400. This means it was a powerful car, with a sporty and very attractive design. But if this car already looked impressive, a closer look at the interior revealed something even more remarkable.

Under the bonnet there is Formula 1 technology, supplied by Renault and derived from the Renault RS17, so we can imagine what this concept model was capable of. A engine producing 400 CV in conventional form, to which would be added the 100 CV contributed by the two independent electric motors powered by lithium-ion batteries, the energy from braking and the heat from the exhaust.

This prototype kept all this power under control thanks to the involvement of Pirelli, which joined the project by creating PZero tyres tailored to this car to form a formidable package. But all of this remained just a prototype, very attractive, of the kind that serves to demonstrate each brand’s worth but resists making it past the production line. In this case, however, something seems different, because a new Infiniti Q60 Project Black S is apparently about to arrive, fully operational and with improvements over this model.

According to company sources, and as Carscoops reports, development of the new Infiniti Q60 Project Black S is under way and news about this new version of the concept will be released soon. I suppose they will offer new features for the model, and it is not out of the question that it will be closer to what a production model could be, so we may soon see it on the market. Now that hybrids and electric cars with considerable power are at the crest of the wave (and will be even more so in the coming years), it is an idea we don’t dislike and that could work in its favour. For now, here is the 2017 model, so you can get an idea of what is coming. Will it surpass it?
