The Kia E9 is being prepared to reach the market in 2023
The Korean brand is preparing a new electric SUV model that will be ready in the year 2023 and will feature 800-volt fast-charging technology.

It will be next year, 2023, but it is already nearly ready to be unveiled to the public. The Kia E9 will be the brand’s new electric SUV of the group Hyundai, and we can already see the first concept images of the model. The new SUV was presented as a prototype at the Los Angeles Auto Show a year ago, and it is now ready to have a set date for its debut.
The model has not revealed many of its features, but we know it will be built on the platform already used by other models in the Hyundai group, the E-GMP. It is present in the Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5, so it has already shown that it is more than capable of delivering very attractive performance.

E-GMP platform
The Hyundai group’s platform allows for an 800-volt charging system. This feature will enable fast charging that reduces charging time. So much so that they claim that in just 6 minutes it will be able to recover enough charge to offer a range of 100 kilometres. Its range is rated at 540 kilometres, although the actual usable capacity is not known.
To charge the battery from 10% to 80%, this charging system will only take half an hour, so charging times with a charger of the required power will be greatly reduced. To get the maximum performance out of all this technology, the model will be able to update its software over wireless connections. It will also offer other subscription-based services that will enhance the driving experience.

In terms of safety technology, it will feature a suite of driver assistance systems that will enable an advanced level of autonomous driving. This is called AutoMode, and with it the E9 will be able to move on its own on motorways and handle movements autonomously on fast roads.
As for its proportions, they are expected to remain much the same as those of the prototype presented in 2021. That had a length of 4,930 mm, a width of 2,055 mm and a height of 1,790 mm, with a wheelbase of 3,100 millimetres. All of this guarantees a fairly spacious and comfortable interior. We will know more very soon and we will see whether this electric model lives up to all the expectations we have placed on it.
