The KIA EV3 starts leading the best-seller charts in some European markets

The KIA EV3 arrives on the European market making a strong entrance, becoming a sales leader almost from day one, as has happened in the Netherlands, for example.

When KIA officially announced the launch of the new KIA EV3 on the European market, we already felt very sure that we were looking at a future best-seller, and we were not wrong. It is true that you don’t need to be a genius to reach this conclusion. A compact electric SUV with a truly attractive and modern design, offered at a fairly affordable price, is a real treat for many European customers looking for a new car.

Those predictions have just been confirmed as accurate following the presentation of registration data in some European countries, such as the Netherlands. There, the KIA EV3 has managed to become the most popular vehicle in January, not only among electric cars but among all vehicles regardless of their propulsion system.

During the first month of the year in the Netherlands, 1,757 units of the compact electric SUV from the South Korean manufacturer were registered, thus achieving a market share of 5.4 percent. In other words, one out of every twenty vehicles sold in the country, of any brand, in January was a KIA EV3.

This figure is especially striking if we consider that, according to the registration data presented, the car market in the Netherlands saw a 4.6 percent drop in sales in January compared with the same month last year, with a total of 32,804 vehicles registered in this period. The KIA EV3 therefore managed to shine in unfavorable conditions.

The Netherlands is consolidating its position as one of the most important markets for electric vehicles in Europe

The electric car sector in the Netherlands is, in any case, booming, with 11,157 vehicles registered in January and a market share of 34 percent, an increase of 28 percent over the same month last year. The highest number of registrations, broken down by propulsion system, still corresponds to hybrid vehicles, with a total of 14,934 vehicles and a market share of 45.5 percent.

Following the KIA EV3 in popularity, in second place is the KIA Picanto with 855 units registered and a 2.6 percent market share. Completing the podium is the Peugeot 208 with 777 units registered and a 2.4 percent market share. Alongside this trio, the Volvo EX30 with 724 units registered and a 2.2 percent market share took fourth place. Meanwhile, the Volkswagen Polo came fifth with 696 units registered and a 2.1 percent market share.

Finally, it is worth noting that if we look exclusively at electric models, the KIA EV3 was followed by the aforementioned Volvo EX30 with a 6.5 percent share of the electric segment, the Volkswagen ID.3 with 4.7 percent, and the Tesla Model Y and Model 3 with 4.3 and 3.9 percent market share, respectively.
