The Kia Optima GT will have an estate and a plug-in hybrid variant

The Kia Optima GT has just been unveiled at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show and, with it, the arrival of an estate variant and a plug-in hybrid has been confirmed. With the aim of offering the widest possible product range, Kia will fit the Optima GT’s mechanicals to a corresponding estate variant, which will be influenced by the Sportspace concept. As for a possible plug-in hybrid version, this possibility has already been confirmed and will arrive over the course of next year.
Focusing on the GT version of the Kia Optima, it features a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 245 CV and 353 Nm of torque, figures that allow it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 240 km/h. In the case of the estate body, these figures would be slightly reduced or increased, due to the aerodynamics and, generally, a higher recorded weight.

In addition to the estate variant of the Optima GT, a plug-in hybrid is already confirmed for next year. For now, no details about its mechanicals are known, so we do not know whether it will use a diesel or petrol engine, although it is more likely to opt for the diesel alternative, given that the Kia Optima T-Hybrid concept debuted at the last Paris Motor Show, which combined the 1.7-litre CRDi engine producing 140 CV with an electric motor and a 48V lead-carbon battery.
