The Kia Sorento PHEV arrives in Spain with a starting price of 45,500 euros

The flagship of Kia is now a reality available at the brand’s dealerships. It is the Sorento PHEV, or plug-in hybrid, a version we were shown last August and which now finally reaches our market, where it can already be ordered, so we now know what the standard equipment will be in our country and its starting prices.

The most important novelty of the Kia Sorento PHEV compared with the hybrid variant is logically found under the bonnet, where there is a 1,600 cc T-GDi turbo petrol engine producing 180 CV and 265 Nm of torque, together with an electric motor of 66.9 kW and 304 Nm of torque, which translates into a combined system power of 265 CV and a torque of 350 Nm. This engine is paired with a six-speed automatic gearbox, which sends the power to all four wheels.

As part of the plug-in hybrid system, we also cannot forget the lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 13.8 kWh, with which the Sorento PHEV achieves a range of 57 km, or 70 km in urban driving, allowing us to drive without emissions as long as we do not exceed 140 km/h. Once depleted, with the standard on-board charger it can be fully charged in just under 3.5 hours using a 16 A charging point, while with a conventional plug the time rises to 5 hours.

Aesthetically, the Kia Sorento PHEV is the same as the other versions in the range, except for the distinguishing badges and the charging port cover located on the right rear wing. It should be noted that the battery is placed under the cabin floor and will reduce boot capacity somewhat compared with the hybrid and diesel versions, offering 809 litres with the third row of seats folded and 175 litres when they are up (the hybrid version offers 179 litres in this configuration).

The new Kia Sorento PHEV will be sold in Spain in two trim levels. The first is the Drive trim, which includes equipment such as the following:

• Driver fatigue detection system
• Emergency braking assist system with pedestrian recognition
• Front collision prevention assist system at intersections
• Lane following assistance in heavy traffic

• UVO Connect navigation with 10.25-inch screen
• Adaptive cruise control
• Electronic push-button start system and smart key
• Electrically adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar adjustment
• Front and rear parking sensors
• Automatic two-zone air conditioning
• USB charger in all rows

The second trim level is called Emotion and, in addition to the previous trim, adds elements such as:

• Blind spot detection system
• Collision prevention assist system when leaving a parking space
• Panoramic sunroof
• Bosé audio system
• 360º camera
• Heated front and rear seats
• Heated steering wheel
• “Hands-free” tailgate
• Wireless charger

As an add-on to the Emotion trim, customers can choose the Luxury package, which includes side steps, sports pedals, head-up display, Napa leather upholstery, electrically adjustable front passenger seat with lumbar adjustment, driver’s seat with memory function, and ventilated front seats.

The new Kia Sorento PHEV can now be ordered at the brand’s Spanish dealerships, with a price of 45,500 euros for the Drive trim, while for the Emotion trim it is 50,941 euros, although if you add the Luxury package the price rises to 54,541 euros. All prices already include the brand’s promotional discounts.
