The last Bentley Mulsanne rolls off the production line and closes an era

The iconic British luxury model has been discontinued, and the last one of them has just left the brand’s factory, closing an era

Bentley Mulsanne 02

It had already been announced in advance that the Bentley Mulsanne was going out of production and that it would do so with a limited special edition called Bentley Mulsanne 6.75 by Mulliner. This farewell special edition is limited to just 30 units, which already gives a hint about the exclusivity of this variant of the model. And about its price, while we’re at it.

But the news that matters to us is that the last unit of the Bentley Mulsanne 6.75 by Mulliner has already left the assembly line, which means that production of this model has definitively ended and that we will no longer have it with us from this week on. The last example of the special version, and therefore of the model, will travel to the United States to join the collection of someone whose name has not been made public. He or she will be the owner of a car that closes an era.

End of the model and end of the engine

The Bentley Mulsanne uses a very special engine. It is the 6.75-litre eight-cylinder unit that the brand has been using, with various evolutions, up to the present day. And it is the only model that fits it, so once the model is discontinued, this powertrain is also no longer manufactured. No other model from the brand will ever again use this engine, and that stage closes as well.

The brand’s flagship was the Bentley Mulsanne, but with the production of this last unit of the model, that honour passes to the Bentley Flying Spur, which is the four-door version of the Bentley Continental, already the most luxurious model of the British brand.

In that case, the engine it uses comes from the VAG group, including a 6.0-litre W12 powertrain that delivers a considerable 635 CV and a maximum torque of 900 Nm. A plug-in hybrid version of this model will also arrive in 2023, so those who want to combine the efficiency of this type of car with the efficiency of a hybrid system will be able to do so.
