Air Lucid Electric Cars Safety
The Lucid Air 2022 matches the feat of Tesla in the Euro NCAP tests
The Lucid Air has successfully passed the Euro NCAP safety tests. Would you like to see how the tests went?

The electric saloon has earned five stars in the latest safety test. Lucid Air has achieved a maximum five-star rating in the latest safety assessments by Euro NCAP, which signals its entry into the European market with strong intent.
The luxury electric vehicle advanced on its path to success, alongside several other vehicles, in the organisation’s final group test of 2022. In the adult occupant test, the Air scored 90%, and it did even better in the child occupant assessment, where it scored 91%. In the vulnerable road users section of the assessment, the electric saloon scored 78%. While good, video footage shows that the Air’s driver assistance systems did not detect a pedestrian at a simulated left-turn intersection. The vehicle also struck a fictitious cyclist in the cross-traffic test.

The Air performed well in the night-time pedestrian AEB tests, counteracting the industry’s trend of poor night-time performance, and was able to avoid a potential accident despite the challenges posed by darker roads. Finally, in the Safety Assist category, the luxury saloon achieved a final score of 84%. It is not the only new car to earn the maximum five-star rating in the latest batch of tests. The Tesla Model S, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Lexus RX and Land Rover Discovery Sport also achieved top honours.
This is how the safety tests went

Neither the IIHS nor the NHTSA has assessed the Lucid for crash safety, but Euro NCAP’s latest ratings show that it is a particularly safe vehicle. The Lucid DreamDrive driver assistance package comprises more than 30 functions and uses ultrasonic sensors, four surround-view cameras, five radar units and 14 visible-light cameras to provide the best possible safety. With features such as collision prevention and Highway Assist, Lucid describes the package as “the technically most sophisticated advanced driver assistance system”.

For Air owners everywhere, it is reassuring to know that the electric luxury saloon is as safe as a house. Passing the strict Euro NCAP test is proof of this, but it will become much harder for vehicles. The organisation has announced that it will introduce even tougher assessments, such as passive safety tests that take different genders and ages into account. EV batteries will also be subjected to fire tests.
