The Lynk & Co 08 is unveiled and announced to arrive in Europe

The Chinese brand Lynk & Co is launching several models in the Chinese market, although only one of them has reached Europe so far, the Lynk & Co 01. That is about to change, because the brand announces that the second option for the European market is almost ready to launch. It is the Lynk & Co 08, a hybrid SUV that will be presented in April this year and will arrive in Spain in 2024.

The SUV is based on the Next Day concept model, which was presented some time ago. It shares its futuristic and elegant lines with it. At the front we find LED-technology lights with a very distinctive design. The rear also uses LED light clusters, which will extend across the car’s fenders.

In terms of size, this model will be very close to the Volvo XC60. That said, its look is quite different and it will become a rather eye-catching SUV that will draw attention. But let’s focus on the mechanics under the bonnet.

The drivetrain is based on a 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine, together with a dedicated three-speed hybrid transmission (DHT). A small battery serves to power the electric motor that complements the main engine. A plug-in hybrid version is also announced, which will feature a larger battery and will allow for a higher electric-mode range.

It is possible that, in the case of Spain, the brand will opt to bring this latter version. In fact, the Lynk & Co 01, which can already be ordered in our country, is sold in this version. We will know this shortly, once we learn all the details of the launch.

As for the combustion engine, the brand assures that it has a thermal efficiency of 44.2% and achieves a 15% saving compared with the combustion engine fitted to the 01. This SUV is also expected to be offered under a subscription service, which allows the user to drive it for a fixed monthly fee, although the option to buy it outright will also be available.
