McLaren MP4-12C Industry Supercars Technology
The McLaren MP4-12C will be cleaner than a hybrid car

That supercars are not the panacea of low emissions is well known. That they want to sell us hybrid or electric technology at all costs as the ultimate solution to the general problems of pollution and burning of fossil fuels in the world is also true. But if I tell you that McLaren MP4-12C is going to be greener than a Toyota Prius, you surely won’t believe it.
But before you get up from your chair in outrage, there is a reason why it may be possible. The representatives of McLaren in the USA presented the prototype of the MP4-12C in San Jose, California, and one of the executives mentioned the possibility that the 3.8-litre V8 engine would emit less carbon dioxide per horsepower than a hybrid car.
The secret lies in the fact that the technology used for efficiency in using every drop of petrol that enters the combustion chambers of the MP4-12C’s engine is being refined so much that the polluting residues, carbon deposits and unburnt petrol would not pollute the exhaust of the McLaren as much as is almost normal in an internal combustion engine.
Naturally, such a claim will have to be proven, so that the words of the McLaren engineers do not end up looking ridiculous. For now, the car is still under development, but the Toyota Prius and company can rest easy, since one will have to split hairs to find the differences in emissions in favour of the British car, which are unlikely to become a case for analysis.
