The Mercedes-AMG "GT4" is closer than we think
Mercedes has just released some images of the camouflaged Mercedes-AMG “GT4”. It will be presented in Geneva and is based on the German sports car, the AMG GT.

Expanding into new segments is a key factor in achieving success in the automotive world, something today’s brands are very aware of. This idea gave rise to what Mercedes called the AMG GT4 Concept, a project from the star brand that debuted at last year’s Geneva Motor Show. It was Mercedes’s answer to the Porsche Panamera and the Audi RS7, something that generated strong enthusiasm among the public. Now, the brand has shared with us the first images of the AMG GT4 under camouflage, which prepares us for its imminent unveiling.
The German manufacturer intends to keep the CLS and its future performance versions out of this battle, since this new AMG GT4 has been created using the same DNA as the AMG GT and its derivatives. Without a doubt, it is a step forward for Mercedes, which fully enters a new concept, with the intention of demonstrating everything it can offer.
The prototypes of this model show the definitive silhouette, which will be revealed in full next March in Geneva. Great similarities with the AMG GT can be seen, such as the front lights and the shape of the rear. At the same time, we notice that the German firm has adopted the already acclaimed Panamericana grille, which was exclusively present on Mercedes’s competition models until not long ago.

Where we can see a greater difference is in the diffuser, which houses four cylindrical outlets on the test units. This part of the AMG GT4’s design strongly recalls the styling used across other AMG-badged models, especially the GLE and GLC, which particularly sets it apart from the AMG GT. But without a doubt, the most interesting aspect is the mechanical package that this new Mercedes model may be hiding.
As is well known, the star brand is characterized by using its powerful twin-turbo V8 to power its most radical vehicles. On this occasion, everything suggests this engine will be the star of the AMG GT4, with output that could exceed 600 CV in its highest version. On the other hand, we could also see an entry-level variant using the same engine with more modest figures. At the same time, the big novelty would be the use of a hybrid powertrain, although no confirmed details are available yet.

This new vehicle will be a revolution within Mercedes and will arrive with the intention of offering luxury, comfort and sportiness in a unified way. It will be at this year’s Geneva Motor Show when the brand announces all the details about this new AMG GT4, whose official name has not yet been confirmed.
