The Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake leaks out
The presentation video of the Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake has appeared online. The ultimate estate?
Last week, Mercedes-Benz officially unveiled the new CLS Shooting Brake at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The German star manufacturer also showed a camouflaged example of what will be one of the most sporty and fastest estates on the market, the CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake, the rival of the Audi RS6 Avant.
As happens on most occasions, Mercedes-Benz has let slip the promotional video of the fastest and most powerful estate in the brand’s history. Its official presentation is scheduled for the Hockenheim Formula 1 Grand Prix, Germany, at the end of this month. A great car always needs a good place to make its debut.
The Mercedes CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake will use the same mechanics as its four-door sibling prepared by AMG, the CLS 63 AMG. For this reason, this rare vehicle will be powered by a 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that delivers 525 CV and 700 Nm of torque. This should allow the Shooting Brake to accelerate from standstill to 100 km/h in approximately 4.5 seconds, while its top speed will be limited to 250 km/h, as on most German-made cars.
As an option, customers will have the possibility of increasing their vehicle’s performance thanks to the AMG Performance package, which raises the power to an impressive 557 CV. Thanks to this, the CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake would gain 30 km/h in top speed, bringing the total to 280 km/h. I am amazed by the work carried out by the brand’s engineers.
There is little to say about the exterior and interior. It is simply beautiful. I love it. This variant is practically identical to the four-door coupé saloon, but with estate bodywork. The front bumper gives it a more aggressive touch, while the four exhaust outlets will reveal the legendary roar of AMG. Inside the cabin everything remains the same: a flat-bottomed steering wheel, aluminium pedals and sports seats.
Sales of this Mercedes-Benz AMG will begin this autumn, shortly after the introduction to the market of the petrol and diesel versions at the entry point of the range.
Could this new configuration dethrone the current Audi RS6? The video you have below will probably lead you to choose one or the other. I cannot yet speak about performance, but in terms of styling the Mercedes wins the day. We will have to wait for the brand with the four rings to present the new model.
