The Mercedes Class S is armored against bullets and grenades thanks to INKAS

Vehicle transformers are responsible for improving the cars that pass through their hands and turn them into unique and very attractive vehicles. But not all tuning workshops set out to make a car prettier; some of them add very special features. For example, INKAS armors cars and gives them greater resistance even to attacks with firearms.

The latest vehicle to pass through their hands is a Mercedes Class S, which has been converted into a high-resistance armored car. The version chosen is the S580 4MATIC, which shows no sign that it is armored and which offers high protection against assaults and attacks with firearms.

High protection against gunfire

The occupants of this model can be completely at ease on board, since it has full perimeter protection. It also features windows with multilayer glass that withstands the impact of bullets. Both the bodywork and the windows are capable of withstanding the impact of 7.62 mm caliber bullets, those fired by an assault rifle.

This is only the most superficial part of the model’s transformation. Work has also been done on the suspension, which has been reinforced to bear the additional weight, as the car’s delicate vital points have been protected. Puncture-proof tires are also fitted to protect the wheels against attacks.

More security options

Security is also available as a complete optional equipment package. For added safety, a fire suppression system can be fitted, along with a closed oxygen circuit to isolate the interior from the exterior in the event of a chemical attack, and a night vision system that increases visibility at night and allows driving without problems through smoke or fog. Emergency lights and a public address system can also be added to give the car greater security and functionality.

With all this, the Mercedes S580 4MATIC has a protection level of class BR6, which, as you may have read, allows it to repel 7.62 mm bullets and the simultaneous detonation of two DM51 grenades. The interior has all the comfort and convenience features typical of the Class S.

As for the engine, it retains the 4.0-litre biturbo V8 block, which delivers 500 CV and a maximum torque of 699 Nm. It is paired with a nine-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive. The additional weight has increased the acceleration response, which now sits above the 4.4 seconds the base model achieves.

This armored vehicle is available worldwide and can be transported to any location in the world, by sea or by special air transport.
