The Mercedes G-Class gets its field boots on and covers itself in mud to say goodbye to the year

The Mercedes G-Class is presented as one of the ultimate 4x4s of all time, something its latest generation has wanted to confirm with this video.

We’re sure many of us raise a hue and cry when we notice how many owners of certain off-roaders don’t give them an appropriate use, but today we bring you a video that will satisfy your anger. It’s true that this type of vehicle has managed to absorb many of the virtues of SUVs, becoming a car capable of meeting our needs in any circumstance, like the Mercedes G-Class. However, the most rugged offspring of the star brand has put on its boots and gorged itself on mud, as it does best.

Without a doubt, the Mercedes G-Class is one of the last pure and hardcore off-roaders on the current market. This is possible because the German firm has kept the DNA of this model intact generation after generation, managing to offer at the same time an impressive off-road capability and a level of comfort typical of the most exclusive vehicles.

However, Mercedes wanted to say goodbye to the year in the best possible way: showing us what its G-Class is capable of when the asphalt disappears and earth and mud become the terrain to conquer. Thanks to the 4Matic traction of the Mercedes and the various differential locks the German off-roader features, few adversities are beyond its reach.

The television presenter, Jessie Combs, has been the driver chosen by Mercedes to put the G-Class to the test in the mud. The first thing we must do before embarking on our off-road adventure is make sure we have the right tyres, lock the corresponding differentials and enjoy the daring crossing that awaits us.

The next step Jessie suggests is to be careful with the accelerator, try to go in a straight line and avoid sudden braking or starts. At this point we will have to hold back, since the Mercedes G-Class 500 -the star of the video- has under its bonnet a turbocharged V8 capable of producing 421 CV of power and 610 Nm of torque. These figures will be more than enough both to get out of any tricky situation in the countryside and to enjoy a peaceful drive on the motorway.

Finally, but no less importantly, we must always make sure we have grip on the wheels because, despite the various aids the G-Class offers, there is always a chance of getting bogged down. With this brief but effective off-road guide, Mercedes aims not only to show us the capability of its ultimate 4×4 on dirt, but also how we should act in such conditions.
