The MG HS is updated and arrives in Spain with a launch offer for just 1 euro more

At the beginning of this year, MG lived up to its motto “Premium for everyone” with sensational prices for its HS model, its mid-size SUV with a generous interior space and equipment as appealing as its price, which is practically impossible for its rivals to beat. Now MG has updated the HS and introduces a new trim that makes it an even more interesting option.

This is a facelift through which the MG HS receives a renewed and much more elegant exterior. The changes are immediately visible at the front, which, according to the brand, is inspired by the iconic British “Spitfire” fighter planes, with a new shape for its grille of large dimensions, along with its inner “mesh”; accompanied by new, sleeker headlights with a renewed light signature that, depending on the trim, can be Full-LED. In keeping with the upper section, the front bumper is also modified with more aggressive lines that reveal large air intakes.

At the rear, the changes are also visible, unlike what brands usually do in their facelifts. These also follow the line of the front end, so we find a more refined design for the bumper, which also integrates the new exhaust outlets, as well as a rear LED light cluster with 3D effect. It is also worth noting that the color palette adds a new shade, “Iron Oxide Grey”, available for the first time on this model.

Inside, MG has taken the opportunity to introduce its new second-generation “Venus” infotainment system in the HS, featuring a 10.1-inch screen with faster, smoother and more intuitive operation. But equipment-wise, this is not the only change, since, as I mentioned at the beginning, the range of trims has grown and we now have a base version called Standard, which joins the already known Comfort and Luxury.

The equipment of the Standard trim is undoubtedly really generous for an entry-level version of the MG HS, including items such as the following:

But be careful, because for just one euro more than the Standard trim, and as a launch promotion for the new HS, you can have the Comfort trim, which adds items such as the following:

• Built-in navigation
• Rain sensor
• Tinted rear windows

Finally, the Luxury trim, which includes an even more complete equipment list with the addition of:

• 18-inch wheels
• Panoramic roof
• Full sports seats
• Premium console
• Ambient lighting
• Dual-zone climate control (only for engines with automatic gearbox)
• Automatic tailgate (only for engines with automatic gearbox)

Mechanically, we can only choose the four-cylinder T-GDI petrol engine with 1,500 CC, which delivers a power output of 162 CV and a torque of 250 Nm, and this engine can be paired with a six-speed manual gearbox or a seven-speed DCT automatic dual-clutch gearbox. With this engine, the MG HS records a consumption of 7.4 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of 168 g/100 km with the manual gearbox, while with the automatic gearbox the consumption rises slightly to 7.7 l/100 km and emissions of 174 g/100 km.

Thus, the prices for the new MG HS in Spain are 24,439 euros for the Standard trim, 24,440 euros for the Comfort trim, and 27,240 euros for the Luxury trim. All these prices already include VAT, a financing discount and the launch promotion.
