HS MG Análisis Hybrid Cars Industry SUV
The MG HS PHEV is flying off the shelves: six months in a row as Spain's best-selling plug-in hybrid
With more than six thousand units sold in the private retail channel, the British SUV from MG has achieved what few expected: dominating the PHEV market through technology, efficiency and fair pricing
The MG HS PHEV keeps on unstoppable. For the sixth consecutive month, this plug-in SUV has led the sales ranking of plug-in hybrids in the private retail channel. From May to October, it has accumulated 6,168 registrations, well ahead of the BYD Seal U (2,738) and the Toyota C-HR (3,568), its closest rivals.
The success of the HS PHEV is no coincidence. While other models split their sales between fleets and leasing companies, almost all of the MG’s registrations come from private customers. In that segment, it has achieved 71% more registrations than the runner-up and practically double that of the third-placed model over the last half-year.
In October it once again confirmed its leadership with 1,020 units sold, following an equally solid summer: 1,082 units in August, 1,089 in September and more than 900 units per month since May. No other PHEV has managed to maintain such a high level of sales to private buyers throughout 2025.

The recipe for success: technology, efficiency and price
The MG HS PHEV has managed to connect with the real buyer: someone looking for a spacious car, with enough electric range for everyday use, but without paying an exorbitant price. Its proposition fits that profile perfectly.
-
More than 100 km of homologated electric range, leading its segment.
-
Up to 1,000 km of total range, ideal for long journeys.
-
Combined consumption of just 5.8 l/100 km.
-
€0 down payment and monthly instalments from €208, with fully comprehensive insurance included for the first year.
Under the bonnet, it combines a 1.5 turbo engine producing 142 CV with a 183 CV electric motor, delivering outstanding combined power and 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 s. All of this with the Zero Emissions label, free access to the ZBE low-emission zones and reduced maintenance.
MG is also flying as a brand
The success of the HS PHEV is driving the meteoric growth of MG in Spain. The British brand has already accumulated 38,989 registrations so far this year, placing it in the Top 10 best-selling brands and making it the fastest-growing mainstream brand in the entire market, with an increase of §h96;58.5% compared with the previous year.

Beyond the numbers, the HS PHEV wins people over with its balanced approach: attractive design, generous interior space, comfort, complete equipment and a driving quality that surprises. In short, it is a car designed for anyone who wants to make the leap into electrification without complications or sacrifices.
