The Microlino gets a refresh with the special Spiaggina edition

At the prestigious Paris Motor Show, Swiss company Micro has unveiled a model that perfectly combines the nostalgia of classic beach cars with sustainable mobility: the Microlino Spiaggina. Inspired by summer icons such as the Fiat 600 Jolly and the Citroën Méhari, this new electric vehicle seeks to bring the holiday atmosphere to city streets, blending retro style with 21st-century technology.

The Microlino Spiaggina is a tribute to classic beach convertibles, with a design reminiscent of the legendary vehicles of the Mediterranean coasts. Designed for warm weather and Europe’s most exclusive summer destinations, such as Portofino, St. Tropez and Ibiza, the Spiaggina offers a unique on-board experience. Its open design, both on the sides and at the rear, allows you to enjoy a refreshing breeze on the hottest days. In addition, the removable hardtop turns it into an elegant convertible in a matter of seconds.

Technological and sustainable design

Although its look is a clear nod to nostalgia, the Spiaggina incorporates the latest electric mobility technology. With a range of up to 177 kilometres, a top speed of 90 km/h and an electric motor of 12.5 kW, the vehicle is ideal for both short trips and daily use. Its lithium-ion battery can be easily recharged from any domestic plug, eliminating the need for specialised charging stations.

Beyond its efficiency, the Microlino Spiaggina stands out for its commitment to sustainability. The interior, in moisture-resistant vegan leather, has been developed specifically for coastal environments, guaranteeing durability without sacrificing comfort or luxury. It is available in two exclusive colour options: Portofino Blue (light blue with white details) and Sardinia Sage (matt sage green with black accents).

Micro has announced that the first units of the Microlino Spiaggina will be available from spring 2025, in a limited edition that can already be reserved online. Furthermore, the Swiss brand is not stopping there: it has previewed the launch of the Microlino Custom Programme, which will allow future owners to personalise their vehicle with a wide variety of colours and finishes, making each unit a one-of-a-kind piece.

A vehicle perfect for tourism

Micro co-founder Merlin Ouboter has pointed out that the Spiaggina is designed not only as a personal car, but also as a mobility option in tourist destinations. Hotels in sunny European locations, and soon in the United States, could offer it as part of their rental service, allowing guests to enjoy an eco-friendly and exclusive transport experience during their stay.

This proposal offers advantages for both travellers and hotels, which could use the Microlino Spiaggina as added value to their offering, generating additional revenue without depending on external services.
