The Netherlands is considering raising the speed limit on motorways to 130

While last week we started the day with the bitter pill that in Spain the speed limit on motorways and highways was cut to 110 km/h, today we see that in other countries, where things are thought through and done better, not only is the limit not coming down, but going up. In the Netherlands, they are studying raising that limit to 130 km/h on some stretches of motorway.
Dutch authorities believe this increase does not necessarily have to lead to a catastrophe of road accidents, as the most illustrious minds in the Spanish government do think. That is why the Dutch have already entered the first testing phase, changing the limit on the A7 motorway, which runs through the north of the country.
If raising the permitted speed does not cause major problems, the plan will contemplate increasing the speed on other Dutch motorways, with limits to be reviewed. On some stretches where the speed is currently 80 km/h, the limit will rise to 100, while those that now allow 100 km/h will, in the future, allow 120.
It would seem that Spain is going against the current of the rest of Europe, inventing future energy crises from insurrections in an oil-producing country in the Middle East, or simply seeking to profit from those who can be relieved of their money quickly and easily: car drivers.
