BMW Z4 Concepts Salón de Frankfurt
The new BMW Z4 Concept appears in teaser form ahead of Pebble Beach
This week the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance takes place, where BMW will show its new Z4, and this is the first image the company has released of it.

Although we will see it at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show, the new BMW Z4 Concept can already be seen at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. For now it is only a prototype of the model that BMW’s engineers and designers would like to produce, and its development follows from the first sketches that the Z4 Vision Concept the brand showed some time ago revealed.
We will have the first official images of the car this same week, but for now we have to make do with this first frontal view of it, in which hardly anything of the car can be seen (at the end of the article), in a three-quarter position in which, besides seeing that it is an open roadster, we can observe its new, streamlined headlights, the longitudinal gills that open on both sides of the bonnet taking advantage of its raised profile, and the large kidney grille.

In the side view of the car one can also see huge five-spoke double-spoke wheels and the pronounced tension lines running along its flank from the front wheel arch to the end of the cabin area. In particular, the rising waistline is especially marked and accentuated to give the car a muscular and very dynamic style.
In this image we cannot tell whether the car has a soft fabric roof or an electrically operated folding hard top. The test models seen on the Nürburgring circuit seem to point to the first solution, which is simpler and gives the car’s overall structure greater lightness, but BMW has not yet confirmed anything. What can be seen is how the Z4 Concept follows in the footsteps of the Z4 Vision Concept in extending the headrests rearwards until they blend into the bodywork in twin bulges at the rear, a very classic styling solution typical of roadster vehicles.
The model that will be shown at Pebble Beach will still be a Concept version, while the Z4 the brand is bringing to Frankfurt will already be the definitive version of the car, whose sales will begin in early 2018. What remains unknown is whether the car will finally change its name and be called Z5, as some media have suggested.
