The new Dacia Eco-G range will bring together the brand's LPG alternatives

The catalogue of LPG-powered cars will offer a new Dacia Eco-G engine

Once again, Dacia has managed to place one of its models among the best-selling cars of 2019. The Dacia Sandero was the second car with the highest number of new registrations in the last calendar year, thanks to putting nearly 34,000 new units on the road.

In addition, thanks to the rise of crossovers and the offer of this vehicle with a more rugged body, which, to add to its appeal, could be fitted with a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tank, the Dacia Sandero Stepway LPG became one of the most sustainable, efficient and, above all, economical alternative-powertrain cars on the market.

This combination led to the success of a modest vehicle which, as we found in the road test we carried out, offered a value for money that is hard to beat among the cheapest ECO-labelled cars on the market.

And indeed, having the recipe for success in its hands, the Romanian manufacturer begins 2020 with the recognition of the range that will bring together the bi-fuel variants of its vehicles, which will be marketed as Dacia Eco-G.

LPG Dacia Eco-G models

As we have indicated, Dacia already offers models in its catalogue capable of running its 90 CV TCe engine on petrol or liquefied petroleum gas interchangeably, at the driver’s choice.

As a novelty, the Dacia Eco-G family will include, from this very month of January, the new TCe 100 ECO-G engine. This three-cylinder unit will be supported by a turbo that delivers its torque (170 Nm) from 2,000 rpm while reducing CO2 emissions by 10 per cent compared with the petrol-only version of the engine.

The new powerplant will be available for the Dacia Duster, Sandero, Sandero Stepway, Logan, Logan MCV and Lodgy, which will be fitted with the SCe 100 ECO-G engine. Available from this same month of January, the starting price of the Dacia Duster Eco-G in France is the same as that of the petrol engine, €12,400.

If this price parity is confirmed, the RRP of this car in Spain could start from €11,600, the price of the Dacia Duster TCe 1.0 4X2 in its Access trim, compared with the current €13,500 of the 1.6 4×2 bi-fuel model, the cheapest LPG Dacia Duster, with Essential equipment.
