The new generation of the Kia Rio arrives in Europe in September

Kia will present in September a new generation of the Rio which must owe much of its design to fitting into the international market, given the brand’s growth outside its native Korea. With interiors designed in Europe and a restyling carried out in the USA, the Rio will arrive to become a direct competitor to the Seat Ibiza, the dominant force in our market.
At just over 4 metres long and with a 290-litre boot capacity, the Rio will not stand out in its segment; instead, it will sit right in the middle. With good capacity, at a good price (it remains to be seen at what price it will go on sale in Spain, though figures of around 10,500 euros are being mentioned), in theory the Rio would be a good option to consider.
In terms of engines, the Rio will have a 1.2-litre 85 hp and a 1.4-litre 109 hp. As for the diesel range, it starts with a 1.1-litre, three-cylinder engine that produces 75 hp.
The other engine is the 1.4-litre 90 hp that emits 109 grams of CO2 per kilometre. For the diesel engines, the only gearbox option is the six-speed manual.
