The legendary endurance race of the 24 Hours of Nürburgring will be the perfect stage for the debut of the new MINI John Cooper Works, which have confirmed a petrol version, a vehicle eagerly anticipated by MINI enthusiasts and motorsport fans who will be able to see this car in one of the most demanding competitions in the world, scheduled for 1 and 2 June 2024.

The new MINI John Cooper Works is scheduled to debut this autumn of 2024. It pays tribute to the brand’s history while pointing towards an innovative, sustainable and electrified future. The race car will be wrapped in a bespoke camouflage designed by the MINI team, which will evoke the iconic red and white colours of the classic Minis of the 1960s.

This tribute is not only aesthetic. To commemorate the 60th anniversary of the historic victory of the Mini Cooper S in the 1964 Monte Carlo Rally, the car will feature a distinctive “37” logo. This number is not mere decoration; it is a symbol of the competitive spirit and heritage of success that defines MINI.

MINI Twin-Power Turbo Engine

The MINI John Cooper Works PRO, which will compete in the SP 3T category of the race, is equipped with the advanced MINI Twin-Power Turbo engine. This two-litre unit is coupled to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The most powerful version of this engine, used in the GP model, delivers 306 CV and 450 Nm of torque, enabling a top speed of 265 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds.

In addition to the PRO model, the event will feature the MINI John Cooper Works #474, a manual-transmission car that has already proven its worth in previous editions of the race, even achieving a podium finish in the VT-2 category last year.

Multiple options in its John Cooper Works range

MINI’s commitment to innovation is reflected in the diversity of its new John Cooper Works range. In addition to the petrol models, the brand will introduce fully electric versions available in two configurations: one with 184 CV and another with 218 CV. These electric models reach top speeds of 160 and 170 km/h, respectively, and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.3 and 6.7 seconds, offering an eco-friendly alternative without compromising performance.

For those who prefer less powerful combustion engines, MINI will also offer versions with the well-known BMW 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre engines, fitted with turbochargers, delivering 154 and 201 CV respectively. These engines will be coupled to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, featuring the Cooper C and Cooper S versions.

A fusion of design and competition

The new MINI John Cooper Works PRO has been developed in collaboration with the private Nürburgring team, Bulldog Racing, and embodies the perfect fusion between MINI’s iconic design and proven competition experience. Bulldog Racing, known for its skill on the circuit, will enter the car under number #317, providing an additional guarantee of reliability and performance.
