The new Nissan GT-R will get an updated version in 2018, and they don't rule out an electric model

It will arrive in 2018, but there seems to be considerable interest surrounding the Nissan GT-R. Little by little, the Japanese brand is revealing details about the new Nissan model and building anticipation about what we can expect from this spectacular car.
We have been told it will feature a hybrid propulsion system, which could be based on the one found in the LM Nismo. The mechanical part will be a 3.0-litre V6 twin-turbo engine, where the combustion technology, turbo integration and intake system bring new features to make its road performance very attractive and functional.
As for the electric propulsion components, no details have been provided yet, although they are expected to considerably help boost the model and significantly reduce consumption and emissions, acting as support to the powerful combustion engine.
But given this hybrid version, and after seeing models that rely on purely electric traction, such as the Tesla models, the question is whether fully electric models will appear. The technology is there, but Nissan does not yet seem capable of producing a model that maintains all the performance of a car of this kind with this type of propulsion.
For now, all the technology gained by Nissan in electric propulsion will be applied to the new Nissan GT-R hybrid. Later on, according to Gareth Dunsmore, the head of the brand’s European electric vehicle division, nothing will stop them from pushing their developments further, and at some point in the coming years announce the launch of a fully electric high-performance model. But for now, we will have to wait and settle for the hybrid model that arrives in two years. And that will be no small thing.
