The new Nissan Townstar Evalia EV is the electric proposal for large families

The electric van that Nissan has just presented has a lot to do with the Renault Grand Kangoo and offers seven seats with an electric drivetrain.

The range of electric vehicles keeps growing little by little, and brands are working hard to offer their customers every possible option to cover their needs. The Nissan Townstar Evalia EV aims to be the most suitable choice for large families and also for professionals who need a spacious vehicle that can help them in their day-to-day work.

This model comes thanks to the brand’s alliance with Renault, which has contributed many of the elements available in the Renault Grand Kangoo, so it is a variant similar to that model, with a long wheelbase and designed to carry up to seven passengers. They are spread across three rows of seats and allow everyone to be comfortable during journeys.

At the rear there are five individual seats, so comfort increases and every journey can be enjoyed much more, even short ones. These seats can be folded and create a wide space for securely storing cargo. And that is not all: they can also be removed to leave the rear space completely clear.

With the seats folded, the capacity is 3,750 litres, which increases if the seats are removed. In addition, the driver has a good range of driver-assistance systems:

  • Intelligent around view camera.
  • Blind spot warning.
  • Emergency braking.
  • Driver fatigue detector.
  • Tyre pressure monitor.
  • Lane keeping assist.
  • Front and rear parking sensors.
  • Emergency call.

Battery and motorisation

This new electric van has front-wheel drive, powered by a 90 kW electric motor, equivalent to 122 CV. The lithium-ion battery has a capacity of 48 kWh, although the net capacity drops to 45 kWh. With this configuration it achieves a range of up to 265 km, more than enough for the use expected of it.

The charger supplied as standard has a charging power of 22 kW, so it can be charged from 10 to 80% in an hour and a half using alternating current. If opting for direct current charging, it can use a power of up to 80 kW. With this type of charging the charging time can be reduced to 37 minutes.

For the moment, the only European market where it can be found is the Netherlands, where it has a price of 41,990 euros.
