The next Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid will be V8 and could offer 700 CV

While the new Panamera 4 E-Hybrid already stands out for its high performance, Porsche is preparing an even more powerful hybrid variant for its five-door saloon. At an event in South Africa, the sales and marketing director of the Porsche Panamera confirmed that the hybrid version will no longer use the 2.9-litre V6 engine in its next generation, and will instead feature a V8 engine alongside the electric motor.
The Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid would become the five-door equivalent of the Porsche 918 Spyder. “With the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid we are presenting our new hybrid strategy. We will have two high-performance hybrids in our Panamera range. The hybrid is a very important model because it combines performance and efficiency. Our global brand target is to increase this balance between performance and efficiency, and hybrid versions are the best way to achieve our goals,” says Stefan Utsch, sales and marketing director of the Porsche Panamera.

The current top-of-the-range model is the Panamera Turbo, which uses a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine. This engine delivers 542 CV of power and 770 Nm of torque. If Porsche were to use this V8 powertrain in the Panamera Hybrid and combine it with an electric motor, we could be talking about a hybrid model with power close to 700 CV. In that case, the Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid would become, in terms of performance, the five-door equivalent of the Porsche 918 Spyder.
The German manufacturer has not yet confirmed when it will introduce the new V8 hybrid Panamera. “We will see at some point in the future,” says Stefan Utsch.
