The Opel Insignia updates its engines

Opel has announced the renewal of several engines within the Insignia range. This is a fairly broad update, covering both diesel and petrol engines.
A total of three new alternatives that will almost certainly be the best-selling options in the range of the German brand’s saloon.
Coinciding with the Frankfurt Motor Show, Opel will present the updated Insignia together with the new engines.
The new diesel engines are two versions of the same 2.0 CDTI, which has been thoroughly updated and will be offered in two power levels, 120 CV and 140 CV. One of the highlights of these alternatives is their low emissions, as both versions homologate 99 g CO2/km. In the estate versions (Sports Tourer) the figure rises to 104 g.
Average consumption, also helped by a 6-speed manual gearbox and Start&Stop, drops to 3.7 litres per 100 km.
These are, in any case, very low figures that earn the Insignia the A+ energy rating.

The other engine that has been improved is the 1.4 Turbo petrol, now with SIDI technology and delivering 140 CV and 200 Nm of torque. It is a calm engine, without great pretensions, that allows smooth and relaxed driving, though it should not be expected to deliver breathtaking performance. The average consumption of this engine is 5.2 litres per 100 km, and it is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
The top of the range will remain the 2.0 SIDI Turbo, with 250 CV and the option of all-wheel drive.
