The Opel Vivaro gets a complete makeover

Luxury saloons and sporty compacts are not the only things carmakers live on. Commercial vehicles are an essential part of a brand’s range, which is why manufacturers always try to keep them up to date so they can compete with their rivals.

That is the case with Opel, which is completely updating its mid-size van, the Vivaro. Just like the previous generation, it has been developed in collaboration with Renault, which has also launched the Traffic.

If we start the analysis with the exterior design, we quickly notice that this van has a much more refined style than the previous generation. This time it features details that make the Vivaro easy to identify as a true Opel. It gets a large grille with the brand logo in the centre, as well as arrow-shaped LED daytime running lights, in the style of other models from the brand such as the Astra or the Insignia.

The Vivaro has not revealed its interior design yet, but we do know that it will be available with a standard or long wheelbase, with a length well over 5 metres, which ensures plenty of space and capacity.

Another key point in the renewal of the Opel Vivaro is its engines, which have been updated with new features such as a new 1.6 CDTI unit, which can be equipped with twin turbocharging (1.6 BiTurbo CDTI).

We do not have power and performance figures yet, but we know that compared with their predecessors, all the engines reduce consumption by at least one litre per 100 km, which gives a good idea of how capable these new turbodiesel units are. The BiTurbo version will consume less than 6 litres in the combined cycle, although these figures have not yet been homologated.
