The National Police fleet, the popular Z cars, has always included units from the PSA Group. For decades, cars from the brands that today make up this automotive group have been part of the patrol cars in the police fleet. In the 1980s, the legendary Talbot Horizon were in service, painted brown, and over the years they have changed brand and model.

Citroën was present with the Citroën BX, which gave way to the Citroën Xsara Picasso, which in recent times were replaced by the Citroën C4 Picasso/SpaceTourer. The time for renewal has come, and today the Citroën C5 Aircross and the Peugeot 3008 Hybrid 225 take the place of these models dedicated to public safety.

Two models for the CNP fleet

The Citroën C5 Aircross features a PureTech 130 petrol engine, which offers the configuration needed to carry out its work without problems. The other model, and the one we are going to focus on, is the Peugeot 3008 Hybrid 225. It is a hybrid option that more than fulfils its role and will help reduce emissions in the cities where it operates.

The hybrid SUV from the lion brand has a hybrid powertrain made up of a combustion engine delivering 180 CV and an electric assist adding 80 kW, which is equivalent to an extra 110 CV. Together, both motors provide 225 CV, which raises the performance of its sibling.

As for range, this model is capable of driving up to 53 kilometres in purely electric mode. This car will help reinforce the plan to progressively reduce the carbon footprint of each of the vehicles in service promoted by the public administration, which already led to the purchase of 166 units of the Toyota Prius +.

In terms of figures, 642 units of the Citroën C5 Aircross have been acquired under a leasing arrangement, for a total of €20,883,158.84, which means a unit cost of €32,528. For their part, the 300 Peugeot 3008 Hybrid 225 have a cost of €12,572,984.16, that is, €41,910 per unit.
