The Porsche 550 would be the next novelty from Stuttgart

Porsche is in the development phase of the successor to the Porsche 550, the famous Spyder, remembered and recognised by one of its most famous owners, the actor James Dean.
In theory the 550 would be positioned below the Boxster within the Porsche range. However, before talking about the 550, we should talk about the real feasibility of the future 550 as the baby Porsche (sharing a platform with Audi and Volkswagen) or as a completely new and different model.
The variants under consideration are the speedster, coupe and shooting brake, as a way of achieving some differentiation from its siblings within the group. The 550 will probably be equipped with a 1.9-litre four-cylinder engine, which Porsche is developing, producing 210 CV.
And as for the model’s feasibility from a commercial point of view, Porsche may surprise us in the near future. What is odd is that Audi claims its model will be considerably more powerful, with all-wheel drive and more expensive.
We will have to wait a little longer for things to become clear regarding the baby Porsche or 550… whatever you want to call it.
