The Porsche 911 Carrera S manages to lap the Nürburgring in 7 minutes and 37 seconds
Porsche shows the video where one of its drivers, behind the wheel of a 911 Carrera S, manages to beat the last generation of the 911 Turbo with 100 CV less.

The legend of the Porsche 911 lives on and now more than ever. For many, only the old 911s were the true ones, but for others the latest generation is the best, and it is proving it. It may not be as raw and it may not give that old-school feeling, but the 991 Carrera S is currently the rival to beat, and there must be a reason for that.
It will be much bigger than its predecessors, it will have electric power steering, and it may have the engine in the wrong place, but the German engineers seem not to care, and every version they put on the market is better than the last. Last August, Timo Kluck, behind the wheel of an original 911 Carrera S, managed to beat the 997 Turbo with a time of 7 minutes and 37 seconds on the old Nürburgring.
As is usually the case in these situations, the Porsche that achieved this feat does not come stripped down; it carries everything possible to make it as effective as possible on the track. But don’t worry, all of this can be ordered at the dealership.
Below you have the video, shot with a camera on the nose, covering the more than 20 km of the German circuit. From inside, you can also see how the driver barely has to make corrections at the wheel, and that is down to how well-tuned the sports car is.

I don’t even want to imagine what the 911 Turbo and the GT3 could do on that circuit. I think the reign of the GT-R is coming to an end.
