The Range Rover Velar, ready to showcase its technology at the New York Motor Show

The Range Rover Velar is presented to American buyers after its appearance at the Geneva Motor Show, with an interesting offer in terms of technology

A few weeks ago we had the chance to see the new proposal from Range Rover at the Geneva Motor Show. It is a model that aims to compete directly with the Porsche Macan and the BMW X4, among other rivals in that segment. The Range Rover Velar is built on the same platform as the Jaguar F-Pace, so it shares many elements with this other elegant model from the company. But the Velar stands out for featuring a generous amount of technology, which aims to make it a benchmark for the model even though it is one of the most affordable in the brand’s range.

This technology reigns in the cabin of the mid-size SUV, above all with the presence of two 10-inch screens. The first controls the infotainment system, while the second is in charge of managing some of the vehicle’s technical settings and functions.

In addition, the instrument readings are located on a 12.3-inch screen, so they are highly visible to the driver and allow all driving-related information to be monitored efficiently. This has made the Range Rover Velar the most modern and technologically advanced model in the brand’s lineup.

Following this week’s presentation at the New York Motor Show, the Range Rover Velar will go on sale in the United States this summer, with three engine options available to American buyers. The first will consist of a 2.0-litre diesel engine producing 180 CV, paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

The other two are a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 247 CV and a V6 petrol engine producing 380 CV, which is also paired with the same automatic transmission. These two engines have more appeal, since in the American market, unlike what happened in Europe until quite recently, diesel is not the most popular option. What do you think of this spectacular model?
