The Renault Twizy now has a rival: KTM E3W

KTM is updating its product range: from now on it will not only have the X-Bow, but also plans to unveil something completely new at Frankfurt, entering the crowded territory of city electric cars.

The Austrian Institute of Technology and KTM developed this city vehicle with some support from the Austrian government. Basically it is a two-seat “three-wheeler” that weighs 500 kilos, is powered by a 20 hp engine, and can offer a range of 100 kilometers.

Among its features, it is worth mentioning that its body is made of plastic, and that its scissor doors bring it even closer to the vehicle it competes with, the Renault Twizy.

The plan for the E3W is to start production next year at 50,000 units per year, at least during the first two years of production, while the agreements that KTM seems to have already reached with certain assembly plants located in Austria, possibly Magna, are fulfilled. The projected price of this city car is between 5,000 and 8,000 euros, depending on the version.
