Model S 4

2016 has got off to a most interesting start for the American company Tesla, following the launch of the Model X and the unveiling of the Model 3, and now it is the turn of the Model S.

The Model S is currently the best-known Tesla of all. It has been on the market since 2012, and after enjoying great success over three years, it is now undergoing a light restyling.

By the end of 2015, Tesla had already delivered more than 100,000 units of the Model S, an unprecedented success for an electric model with such a high price. Let us remember that the cheapest Model S to buy has a starting price in the USA of $70,000, although in Europe the price is somewhat higher.

The Model S has clearly won over critics and the public thanks to its spectacular features. The Model S boasts a carefully considered and highly attractive design, a cabin that is genuinely welcoming for four occupants and, of course, a level of technology that its potential rivals can only dream of.

The redesign of the Model S has as its main novelty the front end, with lines now more similar to those of the Model X and Model 3. The black “grille” that the Model S had until now has disappeared, and the headlights have also been modified, now featuring LED technology, similar to those of the Model X.

The Model S remains one of the most sought-after vehicles of the moment

Inside, there do not appear to be any significant changes. Improved front seats have been introduced, which can now also be ventilated, as well as two new wood trims. In addition, Tesla has improved the car’s climate control system with the incorporation of a HEPA filter.

Technologically, the Model S once again takes a step forward. With four different levels of power and range (from the 70 to the P90D), the Model S remains the fastest electric car on sale and the one with the greatest range in the world, and the update keeps the INSANE and LUDICROUS modes, which allow the P90D to go below 3 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h.

The brilliant AutoPilot system from Tesla, a semi-autonomous driving system, has also undergone changes. It is now more precise and pleasant to use, and it also adds a new feature called Summon, which allows the car, with a simple gesture via smartphone, to park and unpark, as well as leave and enter the garage on its own, without the driver needing to be inside the vehicle.

The first deliveries of the updated Model S will take place from the summer onwards, with a starting price of $71,500 for the American market.
